SPARK

HEVC live streaming encoder

Bring your best broadcasts to light, with our brilliant touchscreen encoder

Lower Bandwidth. Highest Quality.

Spark is an HEVC (H.265) live streaming encoder. HEVC cuts your bandwidth in half and lets you encode your video in the highest quality. This elevates your content and conveys a polished image to your audience.

Enhanced Monitoring + Control

Have eyes on your video feed at all times, thanks to the Spark streaming encoder’s live preview and customizable LED light ring. You can also adjust your analog audio levels and run a network speed test onscreen.

Reliable Streaming Encoder

What makes Spark an HD streaming encoder you can count on? It’s equipped with our automated technology for easy scheduling and multistreaming, plus BoxCast Flow, our patented streaming protocol. Oh, and a handy microSD card slot to locally record a backup — just in case.

One BoxCast encoder, two versions

Spark is available in two versions: HDMI ($999) and SDI ($1,299). Need help deciding which one to buy? Read our blog post on HDMI vs. SDI video connections. Or just get both!

Works with your live streaming equipment

With Spark, you can connect to your camera, video switcher, or live graphics computer. It features two ¼” stereo inputs and one 3.5mm input, so you can also connect directly to your soundboard. You can even monitor your live sound with the built-in headphone output!

Included in the box: Spark encoder, 12V power adapter, clip-on stand accessory, clip-on wall-mount accessory, hardware kit for optional wall mounting or attachment to 75x75mm VESA mount

Multi-Cam Setup

  • Multi-Cam Setup
  • Single-Cam Setup

Connect any video switcher to your Spark with an HDMI or SDI output directly into the encoder. Send a separate feed from your audio source, so you can combine your program video feed with your mixed audio.

This simple setup lets you mix in high-quality sound from a soundboard, instrument, microphone, or broadcaster headset with one camera. Send your video feed via HDMI or SDI, while sending your audio feed over balanced ¼" or unbalanced 3.5mm. You can also choose to take the audio directly from your camera feed.

Frequently asked questions

  • What does the LED ring light indicate?

The customizable RGB ring shows status at a glance. It glows green when the stream is ready or in test mode, and red when you’re live.

  • What are the power options for Spark?

Spark comes with a 12V DC adapter and can also be powered via USB-C (15W+ required). This lets you use external batteries for mobile or temporary setups.

  • Does Spark support 4K streaming?

Spark can ingest 4K signals via HDMI 2.0 or 12G-SDI but streams live at 1080p60*. You can, however, record a local 4K copy to a microSD card while streaming in HD.

* 4K streaming coming soon.

  • How do I record a local backup of my stream?

Insert a microSD card into Spark to record your broadcast locally, ensuring a high-quality copy even if your internet connection drops.

  • Does it support Wi-Fi or just Ethernet?

Spark supports both 10/100/1000 Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi. Ethernet is best for stability, but HEVC streaming keeps Wi-Fi connections reliable.
